Fever RB Rob Brown Earns IFL Special Teams Player of the Week

QB Behrendt, DB Morgan and KR Brown Honored


The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Players of the Week for Week 15 of the 2016 IFL season.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Matt Behrendt (QB, Green Bay Blizzard)


The Green Bay Blizzard had one of their best offensive performances of the season as they defeated  the Tri-Cities Fever 63-39 in Week 15. The Blizzard were propelled to victory by a strong performance from rookie QB Matt Behrendt. Behrendt , who leads the IFL in passing yards, delivered an aerial barrage on the Fever as he completed 14 of 27 passes for 282 yards and five touchdowns. . Behrendt (6’2,205, Wisconsin Whitewater) also delivered a balanced attack for the Blizzard as he rushed for 43 yards and three touchdowns. The Blizzard QB accounted for eight total touchdowns. Green Bay continues their three week road trip as they visit the Wichita Falls Nighthawks in Week 16.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Derrick Morgan (DB, Iowa Barnstormers)

The Iowa Barnstormers came within a two-point conversion of the delivering the biggest upset in the IFL this season as the team narrowly lost to the Sioux Falls Storm 50-49 in overtime. DB Derrick Morgan, provided the spark Iowa needed to help contain the Storm’s always potent offense all night long. Morgan (6’0, 205, UTEP) accounted for two of the Barnstormers three interceptions on the night and stopped the Storm from building any significant lead. Morgan finished the night with 11 tackles, two interceptions and 58 interception return yards. The Barnstormers host in-state rival Cedar Rapids Titans in Week 16 in a rematch of the “Iowa Bowl”.

Kick Returner Rob Brown helped the Tri-Cities Fever get off to a great start against the Green Bay Blizzard in Week 15, however the Fever could not hold on falling 63-39. Brown (5’8,180, Union College) exploded early as he returned the opening kickoff of the game 52 yards to give the Fever the early lead.  Brown continued his exciting play as he finished the game with 118 kickoff return yards on six kickoffs. He finished his night with nine rushing yards, a rushing touchdown and four catches for 34 yards. Brown accumulated 161 total yards vs. the Blizzard. Brown and the Tri-Cities Fever enjoy a bye this week before traveling to Green Bay to face the Blizzard on June 10.
